    • The Metwaley Gate (Bab Zuweilaby David Roberts
    • Date created: 1839
    • David illustrated the gate from the backside, or the inside of the wall point of view; showing Al-Mu’ayyad mosque walls on the right side and the very start of al-Mu’izz Street from the southern side. Bab Zuweila is one of three remaining gates in the walls of the Old City of Cairo. It was also known as Bawabbat al-Mitwali during the Ottoman period and is sometimes spelled Bab Zuwayla. It is considered one of the major landmarks of the city and is the last remaining southern gate from the walls of Fatimid Cairo in the 11th and 12th century.
    • The name Zuwayla was driven from the name of an ethnic group recruited into the Fatimid army from the town of Zuwayla in the Fezzan region (in Libya now) on their way from Tunisia to Egypt; this group of people used to live in this area of the gate at that time.
    • Al-Moayad Mosque was basically a prison and the Al-Moayad Sheikh was imprisoned in it. He swore that if he got out of the ordeal, he would buy the prison and turn it into a large mosque, and now it has become one of the most important mosques in the Al-Darb Al-Ahmar area. Al-Mu’ayyad Shayk was a Mamluk sultan of Egypt from 1412 to 1421..
    • Very high-quality printing and rich materials.
    • 500 strong and sturdy pieces that resist bending.
    • Very well-cut and fully interlocking puzzle pieces.
    • Colorful and durable.
    • Puzzle Size: 47.5 x 32.5 cm when complete.
