The Street Merchant – Ludwig Deutsch, 1888.

• In 1888, Ludwig Deutsch in one of his several visits to Egypt captured many of the traditional sceneries from Cairo streets; one of them was this painting that depicted an old man selling traditional different sorts of food to the Pedestrians in front of one of Cairo mosques, the painting showing the old man as he preparing the food in the most resemblance to the “food kiosk” or a “food truck” in our nowadays, illustrated one of Cairo traditional scenes in the 19th century.
